Fear, Faith, Fate…and the Choices of Reality

If you take away light, how is there darkness? If you take away the moon, is there still a sun? If you take away brokenness, does it mean there is no cooperation? And if you take away Miya, then its all true, because there would be no Sam.
Sam never knew the possibilities. She never found that life gave her any. Opportunities to her were like the trying penguins, and their inability to spread there bird like wings and fly. It seemed liked it was in her grasp, but someone always snatched it away. Someone, or something, but she never took the time to figure it out.
And so when they, it, took Miya away, Sam died with her. After loosing a best friend of ten years it didn’t take much to tear Sam’s heart completely out of her, ripping not only at her trust in a higher power, but at her very soul. She did not understand that she, and only she, had the power to live her life, to carry on.
When time goes by, everything changes. But there are always those certain things, certain images or thoughts, fantasies and memories, that will stay forever. Miya would stay forever in Sam’s heart, though Sam did not believe it, or want to.
As Sam saw it, a new start was not an opportunity, but a way of life. Nothing ever went as planned and nothing could ever be planned because there was, “A god” and this “god” had everything already mapped out. If this “god” knows everything, even the future, what is the point of thinking you have a free mind.
So Sam lived, a seventeen year old girl, going into her senior year of high school with the children, now young adults, that she had known for four years or more. Her hot summer months were filled with, self pity, but she did not know that. She didn’t understand what self-pity, self-worth or believing in herself meant. She had no opportunities, she had no wings, she had no heart and no trust and she lied to herself. She had no Miya and she had no hope.
